In our lives, we come across any kind of advertisement all the time. Some of them talk us into believing that owning a certain product makes us happy or doing a new diet or exercise makes us healthier, fitter and younger. But why do we really feel like we have to do all this stuff? Does this leave us overwhelmed and even disaffected?
There are themes that everyone seems to be talking about for example books, movies, the art world, politics, tech innovations and life styles such as fashion statements, celebrities, cover stories, diets and exercises. The amount of input is enormous. I think it does leave us overwhelmed sometimes but also gives us a big range of possibilities to individually pick out the things we like or rather dislike.
To conclude, on one hand I think that surely people are disaffected by the amount of ideas and information sometimes. For instance, people might feel disappointed because a diet or an exercise didn´t work out the way they imagined and it´s tiring on the long run. On the other hand, just what can be so tiring and overwhelming gives us some kind of freedom at the same time. We have the choice. It´s rather a question of the individual, on how each and everyone of us experiences it.
