How prevalent British and American media are in German culture and what are the cultural attitudes towards them ?

British and American media has a big appearance in Germany. Even though every country has his own media productions, it seems that many german people prefer the American or British ones.

Television shows from America are very popular and widespread in German culture. But not only television shows, also Hollywood movies are rather common on television. In addition to that, there are channels in Germany which are even broadcasted in the english language, for example BBC or CNN.

Even though many people watch the American media for entertainment, I would argue that for news information the majority tends to get British newspapers or  tends to watch the BBC, since it seems to be more reliable.

I believe that german people are not really aware of the amount of British and American media influences.
